Interview With Aaron James Cashell

BIGscene.tv recently caught up with Newcastle's very own Aaron James Cashell.  The Soul & R'nB singer performed his own versions of Stevie Wonder's Lately and Aloe Black's I Need A Dollar, both of which can been seen on the site.  After his performance we sat down and asked him a little bit about himself.

How long have you been singing for and how did you start?

I am trying to think of a none cliche answer??  I have been singing since i was bout 11 maybe 12 years old.  Music was never a massive thing in my house ,  my dad was a pro boxer so it was more sports then anything else,  people ask how did i get into music and i have no answer to that…It just seem to happen..

Which genres do you enjoy singing most?

I am a soul man i love anything with soul..  I will sing any genre tho aslong as it good music and fun to do!!!

We recently saw you give a great performance when you supported Bashy in Middlesbrough.  How important are live performances for singers?

Thank you,, well if you have seen me live then it will be no secret to how much fun i have on stage.. it really does make me extremely happy..  so singing live and i mean LIVE is extremly important.  the job of an entertainer is to entertain..  we should be in pain after each show just so we know we done are best to make the show value for money..

You have collaborated with artists such as Jamilah in the past.  Do you have any other interesting collabs coming up in the future?

1st things first I love Jamilah my best female friend amazing girl…Yeah I have a collab with UK super producer Mark Hill aka Artful (aka Artful Dodgers) which is insane amazing I mean this is the man that started Craig David produced his Born To Do IT Album,,  its going to be an Epic Collab

How did the collaboration with US rapper Murphy Lee come about?

The Murphy Lee collab came reality beacuse of the magic of social networking i had a beat from my USA friends Drone Beats and Heathen and i heard Murphy Lee on it straight away so I tweeted and messaged and tweeted and messaged untill he check out my music and agreed to the collab altho we planned to release it in UK the label that took on the task decided to shelf it which was a kick in the man parts but thats the business sometimes things like that happen..

If you could sing on any producers beat who would it be?
Thats a good question..  I really like Alex Da Kid, Jerry Wonder, Mark Hill the list goes on but I so so so want to work on a Missy track she is just increadable.. To be honest if you are an up and coming producer or a grammy legend aslong as you have great beat I will work with anyone as long as we make good music i am as happy as a pig in a mud haha
